If you are looking for a minivan, you came to the right place. The Honda Odyssey and the Toyota Sienna are always rated as two of the top minivans every years. The Odyssey was introduced in 1995 as Honda's first and only minivan. The Sienna was introduced in 1997 and is currently the only minivan offering and AWD option. Both models have been redesigned for the up and coming 2011 model year.

 

Hybrid Option

As of right now, neither the Odyssey not the Sienna are available as a hybrid.

The 2009 sales are as follows:

Honda Odyssey: Just over 100,000 units

Toyota Sienna: Just over 84,000 units

 

4WD Option

As stated above, the Toyota Sienna is the only minivan on the market to offer a AWD option.

 

Engine Options and Fuel Efficiency

Odyssey:

V-6 Cylinder 3.5L producing 244hp , 17/25 city/highway (2WD only)

 

Sienna:

4 Cylinder 2.7L producing 187hp, 19/24 city/highway (2WD only)

V-6  3.5L producing 266hp, 16/24 city/highway (4WD) 18/24 (2WD)

Transmission Options

For those that like to drive a car manually, you are out of luck when it comes to these two vehicles. They do not offer the option.

HO:

5 Speed Auto

TS:

6 Speed Auto

 

Body Styles:

Both of these minivans go with the traditional look that we have grown acustom to with a minivan. Two front door, two slide doors, and a large hatch in the back.

 

Safety Rating:

Both vehicles have a 5 Star rating across the board except for a 4 star rollover rating

 

Fuel Tank:

HO: 21

TS: 20

 

Brakes:

Both vehicles have front and rear anti-lock disc brakes.

 

Safety:

Both have front, side, and side curtain airbags and active head restraints for the front and rear seat as standard feature on all trim levels. Vehicle stability with traction control is also standard on both vehicles.

I have had Odyssey for a long time now. It is by far the best vehicle i ever owned. That includes cars and trucks. Minivans rock!
